I tend to believe that God follows a general policy of noninterference - that is, God could interfere with the laws of nature as they were originally set into motion - by God, of course - but generally chooses to let things run their course. Maybe it relates to that idea of having a larger picture. It might also relate to free will - which, I think, can only be true free will if there is no interference.
