This morning, while still half asleep, I went to get a glass of water. Not so much caring whether my water is filtered at 6 am, I poured some from the tap, lifted the glass to my lips - and it was only as I was in the process of drinking that my brain registed that something very much not water and very much crawlier was in my glass - or no longer in my glass - at least not until I spit it back out.

Yes, that's right, folks. I poured myself a glass of water, and a big bug, not at all microscopic, or even baby bug sized, poured out of my faucet this morning. (why does this suddenly make me think of an X-files episode or two...)

And yes, I am fairly certain it was not in the glass to begin with, said glass having been placed upside down and clean in the dish drain, and said glass being a glass, not a mug, and therefore fairly transparent besides. That is, if there was going to be a bug anywhere in/on the upside-down glass, chances are it would not have been at the bottom of the glass, which, being upside down, became the top. Second, even had there been a bug in there, I feel like I would have seen it through the glass.

Anyway, it was a bit icky.

I had a bug in my mouth. Yuck.

And the worst part is, the building seems to think the bugs are in our food, and said we had to throw our food away before they did anything. Thing is, we haven't seen ANY bugs in or even around our food (most of which isn't even stored in the kitchen). We have, however, seen them on and in both the kitchen and bathroom sink and counter-top, along the walls in the bathroom, and on the kitchen wall near the sink. We have also never seen them (to my knowledge) on dirty dishes, but have seen them on clean dishes drying in the dish rack.

We are pretty sure they are attracted to water.

Like the water I drank this morning...

blech.

Don't you have an aerator? It's the mesh screen that goes over the mouth of the faucet to make the water come out evenly. Should have stopped any serious bugs.

Not if the bug crawled in from the outside... (well, maybe. I don't know.)

or fell off the outside of the faucet into my cup.

It is, admittedly, also possible that i just didn't see it on the cup... but I think it was only there after I turned on the water.

A little update: Thankfully, the building sprayed - we'll see if it helps...
