So we got our offer for our lease next year. It's a very bad sign when a 13% increase comes across as reasonable.

And when my most optimistic guess was 10%. Which is why 13% seems not too bad...

Sigh. It is far better than 30%...

And it means, I hope, another year in this apartment.

why, there's modern orthodox, centrist orthodox, progressive orthodox, hhasidic orthodox, semi-hirschian yeshivish orthodox, ultra orthodox... ;-)

just kidding, there's also a conservative shul (with both a non-egal and an egalitarian minyan), and a reform shul with a funny name too!

That's not a Jewish place! Jews don't go around calling their shuls Hebrew Tabernacle...everyone knows the Baptists got dibs on calling things Tabernacle. So it must be Baptist. It's just pretending to be Jewish.

We don't have silly shul names, we have bad puns. Shacha"r, or Shira Chadasha of Riverdale, and Shalom Bayit, HIR's early minyan created so that babysitters can daven too.

And I bet our Chabad menorah's bigger than yours :)
